High Desert Milk was formed in 2001 by six Idaho dairymen who wanted to vertically integrate their operations. In 2008 the company began producing Nonfat Dry Milk from their Burley, Idaho facility. In 2012 an expansion was built to include manufacture of butter and buttermilk powder. The focus at High Desert Milk is quality and this means being in control of every facet of dairy operations from the field to the fork. A majority of all the feeds used is raised on our own farms. Milking operations are monitored for quality by our own, in-house, state-certified lab facility. Milk is hauled by High Desert’s fleet of tankers daily, and delivered directly to the plant for processing. The haul is local, since all dairies are located less than 30 miles from the facility. All milk is received and processed the day that it is delivered, allowing us to produce a quality low spore, heat-stable product that can be used in a variety of applications including infant formula.
